2009 in the Big Smoke

How long can one go without posting? Two months, it seems. Still, it's 2009, I'm still alive, so here's something new- a teenage wasteland.

How Embarrassing!

These were all for Sugar magazine's 'How Embarrassing!' feature and are based on true life cringe-inducing stories sent in by their teenage readers.

From The Vaults

This character was submitted for a competition a few years ago.I just found the files by accident today so I thought I'd share. And it's not even Halloween yet!

m*cbeth 05

The three witches. There's a 20's witch, a 70's one and the youngest is a 00's Battle Royale schoolgirl type. I gave each witch their own familiar too. Probably the most fun to draw, but they don't have that much 'screen time' really.

Well, that's it for 'the Scottish Play'. After all that manga monochromatic madness, I think I'll post something nice and colourful next! Cheerio the noo!

Miss Frankenstein

You can tell this was done a while ago- she's got Buffalo-style Spice Girl shoes. I think I may have sent this to Fortean Times looking for employment. I am still eagerly waiting for their reply. I used this character in the first Hairy Mary book. A giant cake knocked her head off.

Portfolio Week 04

I've done a lot of work for the teenage market, most notably for Mary Glasgow Magazines (a division of Scholastic) and Sugar, which may or may not still be the UK's number one magazine for teenage girls. For a while I drew many 'embarrassing moment' illos for Sugar, (I will post more of these in the future, they were a lot of fun to do) in case you are wondering where I got the idea to draw the girl farting in the boy's face. It's a true story!
